Use cases — Agencies

Specialists for client work, when the project needs them.

Agencies and consultancies use ProDevs to add vetted engineers, designers and QA to client projects: a freelancer for a defined deliverable, or a dedicated person or team for a longer engagement. They work in your tools and to your delivery standards.

01 What you usually need

Capacity that follows the project, not the payroll.

Client work arrives unevenly. What agencies ask us for is a way to say yes to a project without hiring permanently for it.

  1. A specialist for a fixed scope

A skill your core team does not have, for a deliverable with a clear end. The work is split into milestones, each with its own deliverable and price.

  2. Capacity for a long engagement

A dedicated person or team for the months a client project runs, without adding to your permanent headcount.

  3. People who work as part of your team

They join your Slack and your stand-ups and work in your tools and repositories, to your delivery standards. You direct the work day to day.

  4. A team that can change size

Scope changes mid-project. You can add or remove team members as the work changes.

  5. Continuity when someone is not the right fit

Hiring plans include a two-week replacement guarantee, so a mismatch does not become your client’s problem.

02 What fits

Five ways to staff a client project.

Choose by the shape of the work: a deliverable, a seat on the team, or the whole brief.

  • Freelance projects

A vetted freelancer for a defined piece of work.

    About freelance projects
    Use it when
The work is a defined deliverable with a clear end. You describe it once, vetted freelancers send proposals, and you pay only for milestones you have approved.
    What you pay
Free to post. The agreed price per milestone, through escrow, plus a 5% client fee.
  • Dedicated product teams

Engineers, designers, product managers and QA working as one team.

    About dedicated product teams
    Use it when
A client engagement needs a standing team. A dedicated team sits inside your tools and your roadmap, and you direct the work.
    What you pay
A monthly retainer for a dedicated team, or fixed-price delivery estimated before we start.
  • Outsourcing & payroll

ProDevs employs and pays the person locally. They work on your team.

    About outsourcing & payroll
    Use it when
You want a full-time person dedicated to your agency without employing them yourself. ProDevs employs and pays them; they work on your priorities.
    What you pay
Outsourcing at 20% of salary. Payroll and compliance only, for someone you have already chosen, at 5% of salary, capped at $500 a month per hire.
  • Product development

Our product team designs, builds, deploys and supports the software.

    About product development
    Use it when
You would rather hand over a whole workstream. Our product team runs the build from architecture to deployment and shows progress every week.
    What you pay
Fixed-price delivery, with a clear estimate before we start.
  • Technical audit

An independent review of code, architecture, security and infrastructure.

    About technical audit
    Use it when
A client has handed you a codebase you did not write, and you want an independent review before you quote for it.
    What you pay
Scoped with you on a first call.

Every model and fee is set out on the pricing page.

03 How it starts

  • Can we bring someone in for a single client project?

Yes. A defined piece of work can be posted as a freelance project and paid per milestone through escrow. For a longer engagement, a dedicated person or team is billed as a monthly retainer.

  • How quickly can someone start?

For most roles you see a first shortlist within 48 hours of agreeing the brief, and most freelance projects receive proposals within 48 hours of being published. The start date then depends on how quickly you choose.

  • What does a freelance project cost us?

Posting a project and receiving proposals is free. When you pay a milestone, a 5% client fee is added on top of the milestone amount. There is no subscription.

  • Will the people work inside our tools and process?

Yes. A dedicated team joins your stand-ups, your backlog and your repositories, and you direct the work. ProDevs handles payroll, compliance and retention behind the scenes.

  • Can we change the size of the team during a project?

Yes. You can add or remove team members as the work changes.

  • Do you sign an NDA, and who owns the work?

We sign an NDA before every engagement. The code, the IP and the product belong to you.

  • Which currencies can a freelance project be priced in?

You can set a project budget in US dollars, Nigerian naira, euros, British pounds or Kenyan shillings.

  • Where are the people based?

Mostly across Africa, including Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and South Africa, working remotely with companies in the UK, Europe, North America and Africa.
